Back from another Jenna visit…
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009Was supposed to bring Cooper but he came down with strep a few days before hand, so I had to leave him in Indy with his grandparents. The visit went pretty well, and Jenna is asking more and more to come home. Based on her latest progress report, she has several unmet goals she needs to work on, all within the general category of being more responsible for herself. I am kind of torn on this issue because I want her to be back with Cooper so badly, but at the same time I know it will be better for everyone if she continues to progress towards greater independence before returning. On the short list are simple things like doing her own laundry, keeping her own room clean, and taking daily showers on her own. Such simple, mundane things take on great importance when you view them in context of what has gone on. She has come back so far from such a devastating accident, and its both exciting and daunting to think of further progress being made.
Is she capable of it? Are we putting too much pressure on her? I just wish she was able to be with her son, and he with her.
I’ll be going back to see her for our seventh wedding anniversary the weekend of the 14th, and this time hopefully will be bringing Cooper with me.
